520 Broome Street is a new residential condominium in the Soho section of Manhattan. This 51-unit apartment house has been built on the site of the old Tunnel Garage on Broome Street, which had a vintage deco design that preservationists sought to save. The Landmarks Commission denied their request and this condo was proposed and approved. The building is one of the last large residential projects to go up in the area, as available sites for new construction apartments, lofts, and condominiums have become more and more rare in this part of Soho. More new residential buildings can be found in Hudson Square just to the west.
