Milanese furniture designer Antonio Citterio is something of a hero around these parts, so it only seems appropriate to inaugurate our Living Spaces section with a brief tribute to his Charles sofa line and its manufacturer B&B Italia.
Charles can be configured almost any way from a selection of sixteen modular elements. The low profile keeps everything close to the ground, and the now much-copied L-shaped aluminum legs give it the perfect mix of simplicity and balance. Our favorite impractical color? White, of course. Our favorite practical color? Chocolate brown. Find a B&B showroom near you, or wait for the insane cognoscenti crush at their annual sale. It's up to you.
