Considered one of the best athletes of his generation, Ryan represented Canada at 3 Olympic Games, winning 2 Olympic medals in the process. As a 4-time Commonwealth Games champion and 10-time World Championship medalist, Ryan dedicated himself to the sport of swimming and took a leadership role on the national team for over a decade. From a young age he pushed himself and those around him towards results, always striving for excellence and professionalism. Born and raised in Victoria, Ryan grew up in Broadmead, later staying in the community to pursue his athletic career, were he trained with the National Swim centre for over 15 years. He received a BA in Psychology from UVic, and later a Professional Certification in Project Management from Stanford University. Having been an athlete for most of his life, Ryan recognizes the importance of community involvement and support, and has volunteered with groups on both the local and national level.
