Each year, Pantone announces their “color of the year.” The shade, hue, and saturation that represent the world’s state of mind. Last year, they threw us a curveball and nominated two colors: Rose Quartz and Serenity. This year, the color Pantone selected is called “Greenery.”

We’re already seeing Greenery reflected in the decor trends for this year, as designers are going for more natural materials and bright colors. If you want to add some Greenery to your living space, here are our top six tips for going green!
Say yes to plants

Ferns are extremely popular right now as they’re naturally the same shade as Greenery. If you don’t have a green thumb, look for patterns with a fern motif, fern wallpaper, or even a fake plant. Feel free to add any other type of plant as well. Pro tip: tropical prints are also in this year!
Color up your walls

Believe it or not, green paint can make a room feel serene and revitalizing. Repainting or using a wallpaper may seem like a big commitment, but it’s a fun way to add a new vibe to your space. If you’re not 100 percent sure green is your color, try an accent wall instead.
Mix and Match
When Pantone releases their color of the year, they include other colors that complement their selection. They also include palettes that help you transition from last year’s color(s) of the year to the current energy. A good way to decorate with Greenery is to match it with colors that are already in your home by adding some accent pieces and accessories.
Hunt for a statement piece

Design experts say that 2017 is all about bright, vibrant pops of color and what better way to integrate Greenery into your decor than a statement piece! A jewel-green sofa or a fern-patterned accent chair will help you liven up any room. Even if you’re not able to find a lot of furniture choices in the right shade of green, try getting a second-hand piece and go DIY you can always paint a coffee table or the legs of a desk to create your very own piece.
Bring it to the kitchen

Green can really liven up a kitchen in simple ways. Celebrity interior designer Martyn Lawrence-Bullard suggests pairing green goblets or glasses with white plates for an extra pop of color. Alternately, keep a basket of (fake or real!) granny smith apples as a natural (and healthy) way to decorate with Greenery. Instant centerpiece material!
Accessorize

Pillows, throws, and rugs are a great way to play around with Greenery. Try mixing different textures, colors, and patterns to add an exotic and fresh touch to your space.
