Is Alec Baldwin Moving To West Chelsea?

by | Oct 12, 2016

It is not definite yet, but Alec Baldwin and his pregnant wife, Hilaria Baldwin, have been eyeing a $16.5 million dollar penthouse at 470 West 24th Street. Reportedly, the couple visited the property a few times and Alec has even spoken to the neighbors to find out how life in the building really is.

The Perfect Home1

This co-op, in particular, presents a unique opportunity to combine a penthouse with the neighboring unit to create a 5,000 plus square foot apartment, and over 2,000 square feet of outdoor living space. The co-op has already approved plans by West Chin Architects to combine the spaces. With the joined penthouses there will be panoramic views of the city from all angles. If, however, you do want to change the layout, any buyer will have the option to tweak the floor plans to fit their needs.

The apartment has been on the market since May of 2016, and the listing price has stayed consistent. Alec and his wife appear to be very interested in this property, but it is hard to tell if there has been any interest from other parties.

If the Baldwin’s decide to make an offer, it will be interesting to see if they make a full price offer, considering the large renovation expense that would be in front of them. However, the plans have already been approved by the co-op, so the new owners can start the renovation process almost immediately.

The building is a pre-war co-op, originally built in 1930 by architects Farrar & Watmaugh, and is comprised of four buildings at the corners of Ninth and Tenth Avenue.

The four buildings include a total of 710 apartments. Although all four buildings are part of the same development, each one is managed separately, which may be good or bad depending on how each individual co-op is run.
