[NYC Crime Report] The Financial District, Battery Park, TriBeCa

by | Sep 23, 2014

Downtown Manhattan has experienced a more rapid change than any other neighborhood in Manhattan in the last ten years.

Battery Park and Tribeca are meccas for people looking for a quiet lifestyle with great access to transportation and schools. The Financial District has become far more of a residential area than ever with the conversions of old office buildings to luxury condo and rental buildings. Even as prices climb, the vacancies in the these areas continue to fall.

Low residential population is partly to blame for poor property crime, grand larceny, and burglary rankings. Violent crimes in these areas are relatively low with 2 murders, 6 rapes, 38 car thefts, 68 felony assaults in 2010. The crime rates have consistently fallen since the mid 1990’s and high end residencies are on the rise.
