Sunnyside Up: The Best Breakfast Joints in Sunnyside

by | Dec 2, 2016

With diverse crowds and epic meals, the restaurant picture in Sunnyside is iconic and amazing. Start your day off Sunny at Sunnyside’s best breakfast joints.

Quaint

Located at the south end of Sunnyside Gardens, Quaint is exactly what is sounds like- quaint. This casual American-style bistro is enthused to provide its customers quality and delicious food without jacking up the prices. All in all, it’s a neighborhood gem.

Their brunch menu includes an array of different style omelets, like the Garden Omelet (for all you veggie lovers) or the Herb and Goat Cheese Omelet. If you’re looking for something on the sweeter side, we recommend the Brioche French Toast, packed full of delicious goodies like banana, apple butter, and maple syrup. Head over to Quaint for a quaint brunch (for lack of a better word).

SoleLuna

Next up is SoleLuna, a traditional-style Italian restaurant whose “sole” (pun) goal is to bring the true flavors of Italy to Sunnyside, Queens. SoleLuna recognizes how special this neighborhood is and wants to bring great food and amazing people together.

The menu brings flavors from both Milan and Puglia to create the ultimate Italiano experience. The breakfast menu is delightful from the homemade Nutella tarts to the Italian donuts filled with pastry cream.

Aubergine Cafe

What’s better than hitting up your local coffee shop for a fresh brew and a quick treat? Check out Aubergine Cafe to fulfill your caffeine needs. They proudly use fresh beans from Irving Farm Coffee to serve their customers some quality cups. Besides the coffee, they have a great menu to help calm down your growling tummy. We recommend the coconut & chia seed pudding or a classic avocado toast.

The Brothers Cafe

With over 4 stars on Yelp, this cafe has been ranked one of the best by local Sunnysiders. Looking for a quick stop and a delicious breakfast sandwich? This is the spot to check out. Rated by locals as “a great place to eat away your hangover” and with the cheap prices and generous portions, we recommend trying any combination of menu items. You can’t go wrong with either the classic bacon, egg, and cheese or trying something a little more flavorful like a breakfast a la Mexicana (either one will cure that hangover).

The Haab

Last, but certainly not least, is The Haab. This Mexican-infused menu will leave you counting down the days until you can come back for more. With 4 stars on Yelp, the breakfast & brunch menu is spicy (literally and figuratively). We recommend the classic huevos a la Mexicana, or the Mexican chorizo topped with chile de arbol sauce and crema.
