Perhaps one of the most anticipated and most famous Halloween events in New York, the Village Halloween Parade kicks off the festivities at 7 pm on October 31. The event lasts about three and a half hours, and marchers will proceed from Spring Street and Sixth Avenue up to 16th Street.

Those looking to march must be wearing costumes, so be sure to go all out in something you’ll want to show off. People will also begin lining up early at Canal Street and Sixth Avenue, so grab your friends and be sure to block out a chunk of the night for this!

If the crowded Village parade isn’t your thing, look no further than the annual Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade. On October 21st at 12 pm, the park will become filled with pups dressed to the nines in their spookiest costumes.

The costumes are usually over the top and extravagant, making this a can’t-miss event.

Suggested donation is $5.

Quite possibly the best place in the city to check out the changing leaves is Central Park, and on October 29 it’ll also be home to the Halloween Parade and Pumpkin Flotilla.

At this free event, you’ll enjoy creepy ghost stories, watch a costume parade, and even carve your own pumpkin. After all the events, 50 pumpkins will float across the Harlem Meer.
